So, you've got to the point of making, or having your invitations made, and you now need to get some words down on paper, but how to do this well? Where do you go from here?

Why is it important to word well?
It's important to word your invitation well so your guests know all the information and don't need to get in touch with you at a later stage to find out extra information that was accidentally left out.
Wording well can also set the level of formality or tone of your wedding, which allows guests, whether they realise it or not, to know what to expect from the day and also what kind of outfit they should be wearing.

What to avoid?
I tend to find that couples are either too chatty or too precise with their invitation wording, however, you want to strike a balance between the two. Being chatty makes your wedding sound friendly and relaxed, which might well be how you want your wedding to be presented to your guests, but this also means that important information can get lost in paragraphs. Equally, a list of dos and don'ts doesn't sound celebratory! You need to keep to the point and tell your guests the important information without bombarding them.

Wording Guides
Having designed many, many wedding invitations, I have lots of experience at wording an invitation well, and from this, I have compiled a fantastic wording guide, which is an essential tool if you are unsure how to word your invite well. The guide covers everything you will need:
The main wedding invitation page
